fun league for the 2 18-2 teams. never seen any fantasy league get dominated by not 1 by 2 teams. well done gents. way outta my league for sure. congrats on the title again Jason. see rediiis you were right. i really don't know what im talking about when it comes to fantasy. 7-13 and a 1-9 middle of the season losing streak! im never challenging you again when it comes to fantasy as you were one of the 18-2 teams. you didn't win the title but you gain a ton of respect from me for doing so well when fantasy is so unpredictable! 18-2 is just insane with all the injuries that can happen. i lost my top pitcher syndergaard by may 1st. couldn't right the ship afterwards.
Considering I whiffed on the draft and had a lot of injuries, too, I'm pretty proud of myself I even got to the playoffs, had to work the sh!t outta that waiver wire lol.
the waiver wire was filled with more guys that should've been on teams. i worked it as well but i lost turner and syndergaard and no one really helped that i added. looked good on paper but not in stats i needed to win. then i started looking at the top teams. some had 1 closer. i think 1 team had none. some had a ton of stolen bases, which were worth a lot of points. some teams had power. i tried to mix and match and i sucked as my record showed. glad i did better in my yahoo.com leagues.
i would like to get your opinion on a matter in a different league -- semi-finals. 1 team after thursday has a huge lead. team 2 starts to add 2 starting pitchers daily for the next 4 days to catch up. as soon as they would finish a game, he would drop them and add 2 more. he did this for 4 days bc he was that far behind in stats. league has unlimited waiver moves. he ended up adding 9 pitchers for that week. some owners who were eliminated said playoff rosters should be locked to prevent crap like this and play with your main roster. others said it's unlimited waiver so add away. many said playoff rosters should not be locked. to me there should be some integrity in playing. he couldn't win on his own, so he added whatever slop pitchers that were starting to get the k's and the possible win. he never had more than a add or 2 a week. plus adding batters, his adds were over 15 for the week. and this owner in question has intentionally lost a game in fantasy football twice in the last game of the season to lose a game and face a different opponent in the playoffs bc of record. now there's a anti-tanking rule in his name and he forfeited draft picks due to this. thoughts ??
If the waiver wire contained that much talent for a guy to catch up, why wouldn't he do that? That's what your supposed to do. Sounds like he worked the wire while everyone else who had the same opportunity chose to stand pat... sorry bout their luck. If you play within the rules, all the power to ya, especially in a fantasy league. Dog-eat-dog, baby, lol.
If I was him, I'd've done the same thing if it was within the rules. Why should he be forced to just roll over and die because his opponent got off to a strong start? Wouldn't you want an owner who's going to fight tooth and nail and do everything he can (within the rules) to try and win? As to the second thing, I probably wouldn't do that, but I got no real quarrel with an owner doing what he thinks is best for his team, either. Creating a rule afterward because of his actions is a perfectly legit move by the commish. Taking away draft picks seems a bit excessive, but OK, I'm not going to argue against it if that's what the commish wants to do. Naming the rule after the guy is just a spiteful dick move, though, IMO.
He was warned about it and did it the very next season too, he was being the dick! . i wanted him banned from the league. so did half the owners, but he was an original owner, so they kept him in the league, but took away draft picks and named the rule in his name. he said he was playing to win. playing to win is winning, not tanking, which affecting the standings more than he thought and put a team in 7th place in the playoffs as they faced him and he tanked, so the 7th place team won and the team in 6th dropped out of the playoffs. as for baseball-the commish won't lock out playoff teams in the future, but 15 adds in a week is a bit much. and his adds weren't great players Will. it was whomever was starting. some guys had ERAs over 4.50 - 5.0, but he needed the K's and Wins. Some got them and some didn't. thanks for the opinions. much appreciated.
Sometimes to some poeple playing to win could mean losing a battle to win the war. His first and only duty is to his team..if he wants to manipulate his playoff matchups and there's no rule against it, he's 100% within his rights and his responsibility to his team to do so (again, I wouldn't do it personally...if nothing else it's bad juju...but in the absence of a rule against it, it's not my place to tell someone else how to run their team). If somebody else gets effed in the process, that's the commish's responsibility to fix, and shame on him for not having a rule in place to start with. And double shame on him for not putting a rule in place after the guy did it once, thus allowing him to do it again.
that's why i put the commish on blast and told him to make the rule immediately as soon as he did it again. this owner has a history of this crap, so while perfectly legal to add 15 players to win a baseball game, many owners are questioning him about it. i just checked and he added 4 more this morning. haha.
I really consider it to be an apples and oranges comparison...like what possible reason would anyone have besides track record in a different league and a different sport to question what he's doing? You've punished him for losing on purpose in one league, now you want to encourage him to quit on trying to win in the other. I mean it sounds like he's just shoveling shit against the tide, anyway, but I don't see how you can't respect the guy for trying.
once a weasel, always a weasel. the guy he's playing in the final just posted, he logs onto his computer and sees he added 4 guys already. he wasn't happy. and not encourage, but play it right. 15 adds in a week ? now the commish wants to have 3-5 adds next season because of him and what he did. so yeah he's winning legally but changing the mindset of the other owners.
If rules need to be changed the next season, so be it. Let it play out with the current rules in place. You should step back and ask yourself, "what could I have done to make my team better." If someone plays within the current rules and wins, attaboy.
well put it this way - after more adds last night people are catching onto him and now are pissed off. the team that lost was the #1 seed and had more wins, adds and trades than most of the league combined. losing is 1 thing, losing that way is another. and if you have a great team, you gotta cut a star player for a cheap add. that causes problems. this guy cut dead weight players and just added 2 daily. so now it's like why bother? just get into the playoffs and add schlep players to win. that's what this guy did. so now other owners are saying "fine, good for you and from now on, we will just add players too." "Forget the roster we built, just add players to win." It goes against the whole drafting the best team concept.
in beezball, they bring kidz up every year and expand rosters. who is getting rested? who is gonna lose a start or two?
