The route is on. This goes back to a question I asked last week. Why the fuck is Cohen returning punts?
That's not a rookie mistake From the time you play in high school you're taught to get away from the ball in those situations That's just a dumb play and it only happens to bad teams
That's totally on the coaching staff. This team is poorly coached. Special teams in particular is atrocious.
I don't think it was coaching. He looked like he wanted to try and make a play to me. It just backfired. And another dumb penalty. Tanner Gentry.....the great white hype
It's totally on the coaching. You should be coached from the beginning of camp to get the fuck away from the ball if you don't catch it on the fly on a punt. It's football 101.
I put it more on the player than the coaching. He should know and apply that. And even though the bears are bad, I doubt they dont coach their players for all kinds of situations, including that one. I'm jaded, just not that jaded to think the bears would preach otherwise/get the fuck away from the ball like that. He's gotta know and apply that. Instead, to me, he looked like he was intentionally pausing and then tried the quick move. He did it between two guys. It backfired, if it had worked--we'd be gushing right now. He had some room to go after those two.
