Ray Lewis is a media darling. As far as the NFL and the sports media are concerned, Ray Lewis is clean. His career numbers easily put him in the HoF, and his current status as a popular football analyst has him driving directly to Canton with the wind at his back. Honestly, I don't think its gonna be that big of an issue, even though it should be. Or should it? People are saying "so-and-so doesn't deserve to get in", then you'll have, "well, at least he didn't "allegedly" stab anyone". Lewis's nomination makes for a tricky scene for the entire field of nominees. Holding that issue over Lewis's head causes more confusion than solutions. Going by career numbers alone and how they stacked up versus their peers, personalities be damned, should(?) be the only factors. Otherwise, what is the measurement? Do we establish a Good-Guy HoF? What saintly gauge is there for that? At least math has no emotions.

Here's a question: Once they're in, and let's say that HoF player does some serious societal damage post-career, I mean heinous shit and convicted, should they be removed from the HoF?

Moss is a lock to make it in, even if not this year because.... voters.

Chad Johnson will likely never get in.

    .
    Then so is TO !

And Ray Lewis was involved in a brawl that led to a death. he didn't commit the murder, but in the state that it occurred, being involved in a brawl leading to a death, is a crime.

tell me this - is this stain on lewis' resume better or worse than what TO did ?

I'm not saying TO doesn't deserve to get in. His career stats and some of his seasons were at times DOMINATE (yo Ditch!). I just pointed out some of the variables that pop up with this field of nominees... Ray Lewis specifically.

The NFL is trying to speed up the pace of play, and the early returns are promising.

On a league conference call today, the NFL touted the fact that 10 of the 15 games played in Week One were finished in less than three hours, the first time since Week 17 of 2009 that that many games were completed in less than three hours.

The league says it has accomplished that in part by reducing the number of commercial breaks from five to four in each quarter. The league and its network TV partners are also experimenting with the “double box” commercial breaks in which viewers can see a commercial on one side of the screen and a replay on the other side. The league said that approach got good feedback from the networks, the advertisers and the fans.

^^ i will say the play clock seemed really fast in between plays. as soon as one play ended, the clock seemed like it was at 12 seconds as the time lined up. the eagles took a delay of game as they lined up with 6 seconds to go and couldn't get a play off.

The NFL has suspended Texans linebacker Brian Cushing 10 games for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing drug policy. He can return to the active roster on Nov. 28, the day after Houston’s game against the Ravens.

Cushing was suspended for four games for violating the PED policy in 2010 after earning defensive rookie of the year honors in 2009. He said then he tested positive for a non-steroidal banned substance.

He had only three tackles in Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars before leaving with a concussion, which had ruled him out for Thursday’s game anyway

getting or being a HOF Member in any sport should not give the person a free pass in life to be a criminal or commit heinous criminal acts during or after their playing career. If you're convicted of doing, buying or selling drugs, beating up people, committing murder etc is grounds of immediate expulsion of HOF Credentials in my book! No one should get a pass on that.
