With their 18th straight win, the Tribe has passed Houston for best record in the AL and currently holds home-field for the AL side of the playoffs. With LA losing 10 straight, they're only 5 games back for best record in baseball.
Speaking of some of those leading with the helmet "tackles" have their been any fines handed down yet? There were at least two that I thought would be fines on and that one at the goal line looked like it would earn a short suspension. Surprised he didn't get tossed at the time. Must have been out of sympathy for him just laying there semi-unconscious after the hit. (Cough**Cough**faker)
That play and going for it on 4th n 2 down 11 pts...you need a FG which is a lot more probability than converting 4th down...incomplete pass and game is over...yes they scored but that was very very risky...btw, there was no chance that was getting over turned...he possessed the ball all the way to the ground and then the Browns player ripped it out....Pitt wuld have had to snap the ball w 3 secs left before the 2 min warning
Pittsburgh had a couple really lucky breaks. Normally, when a QB just chucks it high hoping for the best, bad things happen. Somehow Antonio came down with that thing, and that was that....And I still go back to that cue shot off the blocked punt. Totally different complexion to the game if that thing didn't just stop on a dime somehow like that. Fluke bounce...Big difference between giving up 2 and 7, especially the way our defense was hanging tough all afternoon... And DirecTV can suck it...It was fun going to the sports bar yesterday, but I can't imagine how many Browns end Steelers fans in the Columbus Ohio market they must have pissed off yesterday with their little contract squabble with WBNS Ch 10 (CBS)....Looks like I'm going back to cable. What a joke....
what is a bigger story ? the tribe win streak of the choke-fest in LA? Going to be a great 3 weeks to the finish line...
Just the NL Central and Al East still close, but you have 8 or so teams in the AL within 3 games all fighting for the wild-card and I believe 3-4 teams in the NL for the wild-card. And the Indians have a goal that hopefully can keep them playing this kind of top-notch ball as they try to reach the best record in baseball as well as being only 4 games away from breaking the MLB win streak record.
I remember a few years back, they had the same thing going with Time Warner at this same time of year. But both sides agreed to abide by the old contract until they got a new one hammered out a couple of weeks later. I had ATT U-verse at the time but thought how pissed I'd be if I couldn't watch a couple of local channels (including Browns coverage). My brother-in-law switched cause he couldn't have watched the Bengals who share coverage on the same station. I guess you should just go get yourself an HD antenna, TD. Think they only cost like $20-$25 for a decent one. Never have to worry about that again. But you can't tape the game.
I wasn't able to watch the game, but I did follow ESPNs awful gamecast. I think I have a solution to watch next week, we shall see. In the week leading up to the game, I saw a lot of chatter about the Browns already planning a uniform and logo switch at the earliest possible time, 2020. This is when the images started emerging of the script "browns" in the end zone, and the blank 50 yard line (I never saw a pic that a logo had made it onto the field). An interesting note I saw was that the team was looking at making the helmet a secondary logo and having an actual logo for its primary. It will be interesting to see what little things the team does over the next 2 seasons to hint to this.
Found It! But I think I would go with the "googly eyes" on this one. ***I hope to fuque that you guys know I'm kidding, right?***
Just got to use my second ignore on this site. Firehalo really doesn't say anything worth noting to begin with, but that was the last straw. I can't get his ass out of here, but I can choose to ignore him...
Really Dawg?!?!? I even complimented your rookie QB. You guys bring up some BIG AFCNorth News with this new logo discussion, and I can't have an opinion. We are in the North neighborhood, neighbor. I don't do personal jabs... at persons. Team smack? Just a little bit. Why so sensitive? My team is led by an individual who has probably sexually assaulted at least 2 women. I just don't let that identify who I am, therefore, I don't take it personally, even if a fan from another fan base brings it up. Of course, I have the luxury of watching a team not flounder through decades of futility, so, perhaps I should be more kind.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Shazier got a fine for his cheap shot. That hit will get you thrown out of the game in a heartbeat at the college level...I think Gay had the other headhunting cheap hit that should draw a fine...But it is the mighty Steelers, so if Goodell looks the other way, it wouldn't be shocking either. Guaranteed if one of our LB's had hit Roethlisberger like that, he'd have been tossed out of the game...It's about respect, and until we win, we aren't getting any.
I think your Steelers/Goodell love affair perception is off a bit. The Steelers were heavily scrutinized for hits (Harrison) somewhat recently. A few years ago, Ravens DL (Ngata?) jammed his hand under the facemask of Rapesthatburger and broke #7's nose. Not even a standard hands to the face penalty was called. League office? crickets. I do think your comment on "respect" is on the money. It's basically The Michael Jordan Theory. Superstars or better teams will get the benefit of the doubt in a great deal of the calls.
Well, I wouldn't be shocked if Ogbah tries the next time around, as Ben tried to snap his leg in half after being blocked on the INT. Ogbah gave him a nice little two hand tap and Ben fell on his butt and apparently was more embarrassed by that than the pick. Ogbah will probably give him a little more than a simple tap the next time around...lesson learned But it is true, the double standard in this league is pretty disheartening. That game had no less than 4 offenses. Two of which were by Shazier. With his history, he should be more than fined, he needs to get a suspension...but, this is probably as far as any even gets said about it (fans complaining). I can only hope Hue sends in the plays to the front office, as I do believe that is what needs to happen in order for anything from the front office to happen. If he doesn't complain, I don't think they do anything.
I do not disagree that a team should be able to compile "a file" and send it in for review. I'm not against that at all, especially if teams and/or coaches feel that the officials or NFL HQ are missing stuff happening in the games. Look, I'm not unreasonable, as some here would like others to believe. I like talking about this stuff and honestly, I like the Browns fans more than the Ravens fans (and Cincy can rot). I admire Browns fans. You mofo's have grit... and patience. Lesser fans would've abandoned ship and you guys would be posting on some other teams' threads. I think some people take topics (or me) way too seriously. The way I see it, we are all in one big room drinking our favorite beverage and talking sports. Sometimes there's ribbing. Sometimes the subject matter is more serious. I don't understand this "ignore button" thing or whatever the fuck that is. It's all entertainment as far as I'm concerned.
I've been saying that forever it seems. Well at least since our re-emergence in 99. We have been so consistently bad that it's just conditioned response. The Browns had to be wrong, and good things don't happen to them. Hue Jackson is attempting to change a culture. IMO, from the front office on down, the Browns organization seems to be getting things right finally. I don't care what anyone says, acquiring 36 picks over a 3 year span is impressive. Sashi Brown and Paul Depodesta have a good thing going, and it's starting to show on the field. That Browns defense is legit. It's no fluke that they shut down Bell yesterday. They are flying to the football and making plays. I think Garrett could have made the difference in the game yesterday, but along with our lack of respect, we have absolutely no luck whatsoever....All this bullshit goes away if we start winning. We have work to do, but we're gettin there. Until then, when the refs aren't sure, don't expect the call to go Cleveland's way.
I think that fines are announced on Wednesdays and I expect multiple Steelers to be fined. That bounce on the blocked punt was really crazy. That and AB won the game. Horrible form by Big Ben on that single leg takedown...head inside, shoelaces up and you gotta bring your hips to the party. I think Hue is doing a great job. Kizer and the defensive front impressed me.
