At this point, there aren't too many people I don't think are better than Mallet. You and I are probably better than Mallet

I'd take a chance on Osweiler. He might not have the arm of Mallet, but at least he's been a starter and he is determined to make himself a better QB, unlike Mallet who either seems to mail it or does his best impersonation of Kyle Boller. Plus, the Browns are paying him $16 mil so the Ravens wouldn't owe him anything. Basically the $1 that would still be on the books from Mallet.

I do believe that it might be that time when the Ravens should start thinking about drafting Joe's replacement. With the quality of QB's in the draft next year, they should be able to find one.

Looks like we traded for a center. First a G/C and now a C. I guess everyone we thought would be a backup is getting cut

  4. Anything is better than Mallet. He plays like his name sounds.

Cutting Rainey again sucks. I guess they want to roll with Mizzell. Rainey ran hard and made some serious plays even if it was the 4th preseason game. Mizzell didn't do as much. Hopefully we don't come to regret it like before.

I'm leary over Whalen being cut with Camp still on roster. Taliaferro was long over due. Guess that jumping grab by Ortiz sealed the deal. Reynolds is sad, bit he wasn't able to cut it. Foster will catch on somewhere else. He looked pretty good. Broxton, Pughesly and Wesley were all boarderline, but I thought one would make it.

Vince Mayle making the roster is a shock, but that's obviously for ST.

Canaday made the roster, but his spot will open in 24 hours

I can't believe the Ravens cut both of their backup tackles in favor of bringing in interior linemen.

Skura being cut shocks me too, but I see him as coming back when Canaday hits IR.

    All the DL made it.

Practice Squad should have Woodrum, Ortiz, Quincy, and Mizzell

Don't forget Hurst is still the backup tackle, even if he starts at LG. If a tackle goes down, he'll move outside and one of these new interior lineman will take his spot.

That's true, but it's still just 1 guy to backup everything and start. That's a lot on the plate of a guy no one is over the moon about.

They can also move Yanda outside. I don't think Ozzie's done yet. I bet he's scouring the cut lists to see who he can bring in.

Curious to see who takes Canaday's place.

I'm actually surprised we kept all the lineman. Ricard isn't a surprise since it saves them the trouble of using a roster spot on a FB, but Henry making the active roster was a huge surprise for me. I wonder if someone like Davis really is trade bait now

I knew Mizzell would never make it, but Ortiz did which I figured was a lock. I couldn't care less about losing Woodrum. Yes we need to get another QB arm there, but he was simply the rage of the day like Brynn Renner before him. I don't even know if he's still in the league. Worrying about a backup QB on a team where you have a franchise QB is mostly pointless. If you're #1 goes down, you're toast anyway.

I think Ozzie is looking to make a trade and that is the biggest reason they kept 8 D-lineman. They weren't going to cut a talented lineman fro someone else to pick up and get nothing in return. Logic says they're still looking for an O lineman

I would have liked to see Woodrum signed to the PS, but he showed a grasp of the game and a strong, accurate arm this preseason and you knew that was going to attract some attention. I think he has the potential to be a very serviceable back-up and productive if called upon. He never seemed to get rattled and threw with authority. I liked the guy.

I'm a little surprised they kept Allen over Mizzell and think that will prove to be an error.

Ricard made himself a valuable addition by being able to play both ways, making Taliaferro and Ortiz expendable.

Bradley and Mayle made the team for special teams

Jaelen Hill earned a spot and if he continues playing the way he did in the preseason, he'll be a great addition

Looks like my questions about Ricard and his number were answered. He swapped to 42, so now he can be used on offense whenever needed. I'd say this swap is one of the sneakier ones the Ravens did all summer as it really didn't pick up steam until the last 2 weeks.

    Bengals extend Vontaze Burfict.

This is a player that has has been fined almost $800,000 and flagged 16 times for unnecessary roughness, personal fouls or roughing the passer and will have missed 6 games because of suspensions.

He is undeniably one of the better LB's in the game, but he will also be under scrutiny and have the "eyes of the officials" on him every game he plays. Sixteen flags at 15 + yards per penalty, 6 games missed because of suspensions already and the team signs him to a $38.6 mil extension. At least they were smart enough to only give him $3.3 mil in guaranteed money plus per-game roster bonuses in each of the three extension seasons as well as bonuses for Pro-Bowl appearances. $132,352 are on the line in each game during those seasons.

Maybe those roster and Pro-Bowl appearance bonuses (you have to get voted in by the fans as well as the players) will help him stay on the field, but I don't think it will stop the penalties from being called on him. Remember, this was a player rated to be a top 5-10 pick who went undrafted because he did the same things in college, so this is a long-time behavior. IMHO there just comes a time where you need to cut bait and move on.

Burfict get an extension of almost 13M per season, all while being suspended yet again. The Bengals are still a joke of an organization to me.

Burfict is a pretty good player when he's not cheapshotting guys or trying to injure someone.

    Devil is in the details...

Not much of a financial commitment by the Bengals. Hard to figure out where the initial dollar amount came from based on those numbers.

  18. ravens_R_#1 Legend Ravens

There's still a commitment being shown, they just left themselves with a nice out whenever they want. Just like how Dalton received a nice contract, but one that wouldn't be too damaging on them if they chose to move away from Dalton. His base salary still doubled this year, while on suspension. Even with the extra money lost, he'll still walk with a higher base salary in 2017

  19. Mizzell was a disappointing cut. However, I don;t think at this stage he is better than Allen. Allen fits the power run scheme better that they've moved to. Mizzell would've been a great back - even better if they had kept Kubiak's system. He's only 185lbs (lighter than Ray Rice his rookie season) and would've been good only as a change of pace back. I would've like to have seen him on roster or the PS, but without another key RB injury he was an unfortunate casualty. Allen will be the better player for us imo. I just hope this run of inuries continues as it has and we don't miss out like we did with Bobby Rainey in 2013.

I have to disagree on this. The Bengals shrewdly worked those deals because of the respective risks presented by each player. I wouldn't go as far to say they they're still a "joke", they've been tough and had our number the past four seasons. This ought to be a great game tomorrow. Looking to see how dominant our D looks against them.
