Final preseason game thread : I really think Brian Allen needs to make this team as a sixth cornerback and I think it will be a huge mistake if he does not I do not think he will get onto the practice squad I think somebody else will pick him up or if he does manage to slip on to the squad I think someone else will sign him I think we are going to be in trouble if he is not on the team and he will be an outstanding NFL player and we need somebody at that position to be an outstanding NFL player Really need to keep him imo I don't see how we cannot keep Watson I've been thinking it's a tossup between Watson and Davis but downhill runer trumps it for me 6'1" 240 lbs and able to get 2 yards when needed... sign that guy Who are you guys watching this last game ??
Watson needs to make the team, Toussaint is outta here. With the signing of Joe Haden, Brian Allen is destined for the practice squad and Senquez Golson is outta here. I'd love to watch the game tonight, but I just moved to Florida and it may not be broadcast locally. I always catch the replays on NFL network.
It stinks cuz I just realized only way to watch is in Pittsburgh locally. Or to have NFL game access which I used free for last game trial period then canceled.
They used to have a cheap one just for preseason but they realized that they could get you to pay for the whole season
I hope Davis and Watson both make the team, but I doubt they keep 4 RBs and a FB. Davis' blitz pick-ups in the last game were impressive. Burns, Haden, Gay, Sensabaugh, Sutton and .....Hilton or Allen? Shazier, Williams, Watt, Dupree, Deebo, Matakevich and ..... Moats or Chickillo? .... Fort or Johnson?
Good questions. I agree about Watson and Davis - they both offer a lot. I feel like they are gonna cut Allen and I hope not. I would go young and commit to it. Gay/Sensabaugh not in long term future anyways. I recognize that's bold, and would require serious guts, but I think it's also the right move. Gay arguably isn't very good anymore anyways. I'd keep both Hilton and Allen and make either Gay or Sensabaugh walk. Not saying that's the right call but I would roll the dice on that. I would keep Moats and Chickillo too ....Fort and Johnson can walk. Harrison is very old but he is Harrison, special, have to keep him. There are tougher cuts to be made this year than any year in recent history that I can recall, which is a good thing
An idea picking up some steam is only carry two quarterbacks and put Dobbs on the practice squad where nobody will claim him because he's the worst performing quarterback of any team in the preseason. Seriously with all the talent on this team it would be much better to carry an extra guy on the roster somewhere else.
I like the idea, but its not how the Steelers craft their roster. They carry 3 Qbs at all times. And I think Dobbs would get claimed based on potential. He's a 4th rounder and playing as such. Give him next off season, he'll be much better.
Hopefully we can have as good or better winning percentage in the regular season as we did this preseason
