Seriously, talk about a non-event of a career. He could at least tried to make it a bit interesting near the end, like trade me to a contender, wow, zzzzzzzzz.

    But he did do this;

In 1,540 NHL games, he had 972 points (402 goals, 570 assists). He's the Jets/Coyotes all-time leader in all four categories.

He's also one of nine players in NHL history to have played at least 21 seasons with the same franchise, and three played more games with one organization than Doan did (Gordie Howe, 1,687, Detroit Red Wings; Nicklas Lidstrom, 1,584, Red Wings; Alex Delvecchio, 1,549, Red Wings). He's tied for 14th for most games played in NHL history.

That's not too shabby and he has been flying under the radar on a few categories in my opinion.

He put a lot of numbers up and had a long career, now his name is up there with the greats. To my point, what a shame he couldn't have contributed more to his legacy by moving to a contender. Players like Bourque, Modano, Hull etc, did that, and he's right up there with Howe and Lidstrom.

He could still go to a contender, it'll be tough, the dropoff in goals from 28 to 6 from 2016 to '17 might be too much for a team to bite.

He did stick around through real rocky times with ownership, but I'm sure he used up a lot of his golf membershp in the spring lol.

Doan is a classy guy and didn't want to uproot his family. I respect him for that.

I just ran into too much stuff.
I didn't even finish watching the finals until mid July.

Until mid July? You must have a lot on your plate.

Doan was a very well liked player and person, they made him captain and had long term plans. I don't think he should've got trapped in the comfort zone to that extent, ownership never really gave back, they didn't do their part to ice a winner.

4.5ish billion dollar organization...am I the only one completely underwhelmed by this.
The broke arse town of Harvey Illinois is sending trucks of supplies down and is taking in 10 families or so, probably exceeding this contribution.

    C'mon Gary

This is right up there as being as exploitive as all the cancer awareness crap the NFL does.
Pony up or just pay for a damn round of commercials for the same cheap recognition.

Did the Blackhawks do anything this summer?

    Doan finally retires.
Made it with the same franchise the whole time.
I think I would have been impressed 20 years ago, but now it looks more complacent or uninspiring in today's game.
Better for Coyotes to turn the page.

Pasta drama in Boston is funny.

Is Colorado going to trade Duchene already? Car, MTL, and CLB look like candidates, although I'm not sure putting Duchene with Torts is a good idea coming from that system.

Lots of Koolaid chugging around the Jets. Love the forwards, but the blueline looks very vulnerable, Little hasn't been healthy for 3 years, Perreault never stays healthy, and they still have to find effective, cohesive, bottom 6 rotations that can maintain consistency. If they're willing to lose a top talent for a top 3 d, I'll project them in the playoffs but right now I think there's as much downside as upside to this group. Too many potential distractions and a questionable front office/ownership group. Without a red hot start out of the gate, I don't see this group doing better than a blaze to the 9th seed.

Ehlers, Little, Dano, Trouba, and Morrissey all in a contract year...lots of distractions.

Sweeney and Seabass are really screwing themselves.
Going from 6x6 to 6x7 for negotiations shows how out to lunch they are. One thing coming off of an ELC, but he's been up all 3 years, looks bad starting that low for that term and agents take note. Panarin took 2 x 6 as a RFA last year.
Past should be in 45 million range imo.
