Unfortunately, that is how "discussions" happen on these boards Lym...some posters only read/hear/comprehend a portion of a statement/argument/viewpoint and focus on a small portion of the overall view, so a repeated evaluation is put into different words to try to help them understand, then it gets misconstrued as disparaging comments...

I'm confused... do we have examples of these comments?

I mean, I throw a TON of shade at Brock Osweiler, but he's proven to be one of the worst quarterbacks in the League. His being on the team won't change that for me.

I'm guilty of being one of those fans that always thinks: "this time, it's gonna work!"....We went on that mini 3 game winning streak with Hoyer a couple years ago, and I started talking about playoff possibilities. lol! It's still a shame that one didn't work out. Hoyer would be a perfect bridge QB to bring Kiser along at a leisurely pace....But I don't think we have that luxury. The incompetence of the veteran QB's on this roster are going to force Hue Jackson to play the rookie, right out of the gates. And i don't blame Hue at all if he goes with Kiser. He clearly gives us the best chance to win, and though it might not be great, it is what it is...I'm not worried about Kiser falling flat on his face. That kid will be prepared. Of course there will be those "wide eyed rookie" moments, but he seems like he can hold this down. Saturday night will tell us something. If he performs well in Tampa, I'd look for Kiser to get regular season nod in the opener...

To address the comments about him falling on his face and squashing his psyche...

He has already gone through adversity on the biggest stage in college football. He has been personally blamed for all of Kelly's woes and he is now being named the starter for the most important fake game of the preseason. He is continuing to grow despite what he went through in South Bend. He can handle a little scrutiny while he goes through the rookie growing pains..Like I've said in the past, if he can't..he never will and we need to continue looking for a solution. I was more worried about his ability to pick up the offense and run it more effectively than a veteran..well, that worry has subsided based on the fact there were no veterans that could run it better than he does CURRENTLY and he should only improve as he gets more reps and experience.

I'm all in with Kizer, I was always a supporter, but based on what is now behind him, I really don't see any reason to hold him back and learn from the sideline.

    Interesting indeed!

Especially when compared to the Browns' "unofficial" depth chart posted by Irish showing Brock as QB2. I seriously doubt that Hue will play Kizer for the entire 4 quarters. To do so would be both foolish and reckless. So either Schefter is full of shit (probable), or something is in the wind.

    Hoyer's a bum.

Hoyer is not a bum. He's a journeyman backup with a bum knee.

    o_O

That's the one comment in the decade we have been on these boards "talking" that REALLY turned you against me Lym..You will never forgive me for that one..

FWIW, he is STILL on his journey playing for yet another team that thinks they will get more out of him than what he is AND he honestly thinks he is not there to be just a bridge to their real future QB, whomever that may be...

At the time, he was still the starting QB of the Cleveland Browns (see bullet point #1).
He is STILL the only QB to leave Cleveland with a winning W/L record (as a starter) since 1999.
IMHO, he was still better than any other QB on the roster.
And, he was aquired by a team whose head coach happened to be his OC here in Cleveland.

9-6 record... he didn't even have a full season of starts to measure!

That's like being the tallest midget.

And FWIW, I was advocating Hoyer the year before and people told me to "shut up" because Brandon Weeden was going to save us.

Evidently... the Browns do still want to trade him (article).

That's a quote from Osweiler, not Hue.

So I guess keep an eye on Jacksonville?

Blake Bortles and Chad Henne are probably the only worse potential starting QBs than Brock Osweiler in the NFL.

Eat the $16M and recoup a low-round 2019 pick, maybe?

Yep, that's what I'm thinking as well...

You have to eat it if you cut him anyway, so why not "give him away" in exchange for a low draft pick. It would be beneficial if there were two teams in need. The thing is, no one can even be sure if they can use him...especially after TWO teams gave him away. I think our ceiling is a 6th rounder (if two teams fight over him)...otherwise, you are looking at a conditional 2019 pick..If he starts AND stays on the 2018 roster it's a 2nd, if he starts so many games in 2017 (say 8 games) but is cut before the 2018 season starts, it's a 3rd, if he never starts a game but is on the roster all season, a 7th, if they cut him before the end of the season, it's nothing.
