I was just thinking the same thing! So, lets just sit back, have a few adult beverages and enjoy the show.

I think its fairly clear by now that Osweiler was nothing more than a means to obtain another high draft pick and that, for whatever reason, Kessler didn't progress as he should have over the off season. I just hope that Kizer doesn't get happy feet and ends up getting knocked out of the rotation because of it.

    See, TD?

I'm neither pessimistic nor jaded. Grumpy I'll give ya.

After seeing him play well into the fourth quarter of Monday night's game.

Bryant clearly must not have returned well from his injury. He was old, by New Browns standards, and carried a pretty sizable cap number.

If true, then I have very real concerns about our coaches and their ability to diagnose talent.

They actively took away reps from Kizer and Kessler and wasted time trying to "fix" a crappy QB instead of developing their home-grown guys?

Or . . . They were told by the owner to TRY and get something, anything, out of that $16M investment. If nothing else, improve his trade value.

Pretty darn ironic from someone who championed Blake Bortles.

Bob Griffin is bad. Sure. Who else was available?

Johnathan Manziel was a drug addict. Incredible talent, incredible lack of self-control.

NEVER, EVER championed Bortles. Simply made a bet that he would be drafted before some other guys . . . and won the bet!

No offense intended Lym, but who HAVE you "championed". You balk at a great many players, but I can't really recall you going out on any limbs for very many.

Honestly, I haven't seen any QB's come into the NFL lately that I would "champion". Trubisky came close, but even he had some issues in my mind.

So, I don't really watch college football outside of tOSU, and I never really saw Kizer play before fake game #2. That being said, this kid has a cannon! His throw to Njoku down the seam was spot on and I think it was a poor attempt to catch it. If DN had laid out instead of extending one hand I think he makes the catch. At the same time, a tad more touch and that's a TD.

Dayes looks like he was a steal. The numbers didn't pop, but the individual plays were good, he makes the team.

Schobert looks great and as most of you said he would have over taken Tank if there wasn't an injury.

Peppers looks great in the return game, his presence will be felt! I wont be surprised to see him drop into the MLB spot on different defensive looks with his tackling ability.

Really getting excited for the season to start!

Yeah... they all have issues. If they were can't miss, we wouldn't disagree. Even Andrew Luck, whom everyone loved was challenged, at least by some (me).

You want us to find a QB, but you don't want us to go out on a limb for anyone.

I guess I'd rather be criticized for having an opinion and being wrong than for not having an opinion and just being mad that nothing seems to work out.

Lets clear the air here. For once and for all.

    • I will champion whoever is the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. Period.
    • I will NOT (and never will) post disparaging comments about the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns simply because "my guy" isn't the starter. (caviat: Johnny Manziel. - he was, without a doubt, worthless).
    • If you guys want to go all in on a guy because you think he is the next great one . . . Go for it. I simply do not believe I am qualified to make that judgement. And, for the record, neither are any of you.
I am a fan of the team who's name is (literally) on the front of the jersey . . . Not on the back of it.

    Interesting...

Given the rate at which professionally-scouted QBs fail in this League, that's both (A) not a correct statement and (B) not a hurtful one.

I was thinking the same thing...Do you think they may be in talks for a trade and don't want to take any chances? Cutting him if he gets hurt wouldn't matter, I don't believe, but it sure as hell would throw a wrench into a potential trade. NO MATTER WHAT, he will not be on the roster in 2018, so may as well cut ties now.

I think there can be a distinction between "disparaging comments" and "critical analysis/evaluation".

It wasn't intended to be hurtful.

Repeating the same "critical analysis/evaluation over and over ad nausium becomes disparaging.

I agree, if you are trying to give your take on a position competition, how in the hell do you explain your position without giving a critical analysis? It is actually impossible to do, which is why I get so frustrated with everyone that argues with me, if you aren't explaining your stance, then why be critical of mine?

After his preseason performance, coupled with the prior two years of game film, I find it incredibly challenging to believe someone's trading for him - unless its' a throw-away seventh round pick. Even with Cleveland eating contract, Osweiler is awful.

Like you said, there's no injury clause - the Browns are still on the hook for the contract - so the decision not to start him is a curious one.

Could just be to send a message? "Hey, we gave you the staring job and you failed."
