Like Hack he was considered a potential 1st round pick that looked to go on Day 2 as the draft approached. Then Morris fell right out. Hack had more measurables so stayed high despite the flags. Hack can never learn. Morris at least seems to be a bit more correctable, but as a #3 QB at best until he can catch on as a #2 before he loses his chances.
If the Browns can dump Osweiler and go into the season with Kizer, Kessler, Morris and Hogan, I think it opens up the possibility of Cleveland finding one of the top three as a potential answer to the most important position on the field. I believe Morris would supplant Kessler as Kizer's primary back-up and under Hue could become a legitimate starting option if Kizer shits the bed.
I disagree, although as far as a #3 goes I do not know what to think of Hogan. He has been a disappointment and I haven't seen too much of him recently.
Cleveland appears to have made up their mind on Kevin. I still think he can be a quality back-up in the league but he needs to find another roster to try and make it happen on. He could stay on as a possible 3 but there are enough spots that could be competitive for a long term number two that he would be better off trying to catch on elsewhere. For some reason, he puts me in mind of Rich Gannon, lol.
Well good luck convincing some of these Browns fans that Mr. Morris is a better prospect than Kessler. And get ready for an onslaught of stats...Seriously. I couldn't convince them that Jimmy Garoppolo was a better prospect than the mighty Cody K.. Just so you know, there are statistics out there that indicate Kessler is the greatest QB that has ever played the game...He gets compared favorably to Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Ben Roethlisberger on these boards...There honestly, is no equal to Cody Kessler. On a serious note however.....I really don't think we are going to carry 4 QB's into the season.
RG3 and Johnny were Heisman winning first round draft picks...geez. I liked Johnny at Texas A@M...I guess I'll never live that down. He did win a Heisman... "3 year chubby for RG3" : lol! I don't think so....Another guy that I liked in college, but very disappointed with as a pro... I try to support whomever the Browns decide to go with, and remain optimistic...Others just decide to be pessimistic about anything and everything the Browns do...That's just not me. I'm excited about the Browns this year...Fortunately, we lead the world in pessimistic grumpy jaded fans, so it's easy to stay grounded. All I have to do is come to these threads and say anything positive about the Browns, and I'll be quickly reminded of who we are and what we are, and that no happiness is to ever come... That's what "culture change" is all about....I just hope Sashi and Hue are strong enough.
Oh, I could also just talk football with my dad or my friends....Pessimism amongst Browns fans is certainly not limited to these boards. I certainly didn't want to imply that. They are everywhere. Searching for people like me, so they can mock.
We signed RG3, so I supported it and was really hoping he'd get back to the way he produced as a rookie...Guess what, when we drafted Weeden, I embraced that....Same with Quinn and Couch....Hell, I even praised Holmgren for the signing of Jake Delhomme. lol! I thought Jeff Garcia could help...Do ya see the pattern? I only get on Kessler because so many crazy things get posted about his impending greatness..lol! I can't help myself.... As far as Hogan goes, there's not much to say. The fact that he doesn't get any reps on a QB starved team kind of says it all...
I do believe when we signed RGIII, the question of the day was...who was available that was better? That question still remains, was there another QB that came out of the shadows that we should have drafted signed instead? RGIII was a HUGE bust, but what else could we do at the time but hope that he returned to his rookie prowess? Now tell me QB-B was available and we were pining for him, and he went on to lead the team that picked him up to the playoffs and I will charbroil crow and eat it with little bites at a time so you can keep chiming in on what a mistake it was to back the RGIII decision. But, at the time the question was asked...who was better? I don't recall any responses, and if there were...DID THEY PAN OUT BETTER for the team that picked up that player? Otherwise, it is exactly what we talked about when he was signed (and even prior to him signing)...he was the best option available in a pile of shit. Now Manziel on the other hand, I agree 100% and admit my admiration for him overshadowed his cockiness and shortcomings (no pun intended) to the point that I felt he would succeed at a very high level in this league. To this day I have a small piece in the back of my mind that believes if he wasn't such an immature little brat, he could have succeeded. None of that matters, because he wasted his talent, much like Ryan Leaf did...so we move on. I will eat crow on this one though, because frankly, he shit the bed and... I WAS VERY VERY WRONG!!!!!
Just curious what everyone's thoughts were on the release of Desmond Bryant? It came as a slight surprise, but where has he been all training camp? I haven't really heard anything about him this year...did he ever fully recover from his injuries?
Yeah, it happens. I thought he was going to be the modern day Fran Tarkenton...smh...Boy was that wrong. I don't think there's much doubt that Johnny's immaturity got the best of him. He just wanted all the fun and glory of the games, without putting in the work. It was ridiculous. I knew he was a little wild, but I had no idea about all the issues that boy had...Live and learn. We should just let this go, and chalk it up as unfortunate Browns history, before Bluez gets word of the Johnny talk...
I too was a bit surprised. I'm thinking the front office looked him and saw a long in the tooth player with an injury history that would have taken (developmental) snaps from the young guns.
I was surprised that he was playing late in 4th quarter the other night...That had me wondering if he was going to factor in.
As I mentioned before Mondays game, if Kizer gets the nod, I think it says more about the guys ahead of him...IMO, Kessler and Osweiller handed it to Kizer.
