You know Lym, it's also my fault..I shouldn't go to other boards to read when I get bored. I enjoy reading about what other fans are saying and what they talk about, especially in the off season. However, I can't hold my tongue when they diss the Browns and I REALLY need to work on that. It never ends well. For the record, the ignore button WORKS GREAT!! All of his posts are now gone. It's like he doesn't exist anymore. With any luck, he will ignore me as well and we can all be happy in the universe.
Don't ignore him Irish. Just light him up with the facts, like you did in the first place. Keep up the good work....That was pretty fun. There's obviously a history here with you guys outside of this thread. I'm not really sure what he got all bent about in the first place, but I enjoyed it. I'm the same way Irish. I don't visit other message boards because so many people think of the Browns as a punching bag, and I don't take that very well at all...
For the first time in 50 years, the same team produces the Offensive and Defensive rookies of the year.
Co-STROY Dude almost hit a 58 yarder the other night and it missed wide left, it would have been good from 70...of course a miss is a miss, but could you imagine a rookie breaking the NFL record? How about having a 100% touchback on kickoffs? This kid has that kind of potential.
Final Predictions Browns wrapped up their preseason with a perfect 4-0 record. Sure... preseason wins mean nothing, but for a team that needs to learn how to win, this is a very good start. I've got some major concerns on offense but our defense looks very capable. This guy helps. So here's the bold prediction that predicates every other one so far: Browns finish with a Top 12 defense.
QB Prediction: Cody Kessler is the first QB departure. Traded to Seattle (along with Steeler's 2018 sixth round pick) for Jermaine Kearse. Browns decide to keep Osweiler around as a backup, Kevin Hogan as third QB.
Close, but no cigar. Osweiller is cut, Kessler gets stashed on the practise squad and (don't sleep on) Kevin Hogan is QB2.
Not a Browns prediction, but an overall NFL one: The Background: People are going to take notice of what the Browns are doing. Some already have, some soon will. And a "tank" season is going to be a very real thing in the NFL. You can "tank" without telling your coaches and players to stop playing, as Cleveland did. They scrapped the roster, lost talented players, and had the following number of picks: 2016 - 14, 2017 - 12, 2018 - 13 (projected). That helps rebuild a bad roster or a bad team. Thanks, DePodesta. The Tankers: With an staggering number of projected first round talent QBs in 2018, my guess is at least four teams tank this season. Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, and Luke Falk all figure to be prized targets. The Jets are already in the midst of a tank season (with a gaping hole at QB). The Bills are starting to tank, treading water at the moment, and don't really have a sound QB solution. Jacksonville, while not scrapping the roster, is a 3-13 team with Blake Bortles - they'll be 1-15 with Chad Henne. Lastly, the (maybe a dark horse pick by me) is Indianapolis. For the first time ever, I'm thinking we see a 16-0 and 0-16 happen in the same season. Maybe even crazier, in the same division. Patriots (16-0) and Jets (0-16). Buffalo is close (2-14). With so many bad teams and so many teams in need of good QBs, I expect more bad football this season from other squads more than any other recent year (besides maybe the year Seattle won the NFCW with a 7-9 record). NY Jets: 0-16 Jacksonville: 1-15 Buffalo: 2-14 LA Chargers: 3-13 Indianapolis: 4-12 San Francisco: 4-12 Chicago: 4-12 LA Rams: 4-11 Detroit: 5-11 My guess today at worst records in 2017. Not to try and look too far ahead, but imagine how perfectly this plays out with Cleveland if Kizer doesn't look like Jimmy Clausen and the Browns go into an offseason with 13 picks (two first, three second) and no desire to add a QB. Browns should have a chance to take premier talent. Early season targets for me: Connor Williams, OT Texas Derwin James, S Florida State Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State Adonis Alexander, CB Virginia Tech
Another reason for the 9-7 record for the Browns (10-6 stretch goal): Jets, Jaguars, Chargers, Colts, Bears, Detroit - all played by Cleveland this season.
Showstopper will be talking about this kid all the way to the draft. And he should.... Derwin is a 'manimal'.
I agree. Possibly even a top 6 defense....I knew Gregg Williams would bring along an attitude change and a more aggressive approach, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a coach, that wasn't a head coach, have a bigger impact. We didn't play any starters last night in Chicago and those boys got after it all night. They thoroughly dominated from start to finish. Our defense played preseason game #4 like the Super Bowl was on the line. Man I was impressed. The LB Burgess #52 from Louisville was a beast, albeit against an uninspiring performance from Chicago's offense.... Call me crazy, but I don't think this team will struggle to win 5 games like so many "experts" are predicting.....I still say we will have 5 wins at the midway point. That's right. Cleveland Browns go into the bye week at 5-3...(or better)...Also, we finish at no worse than 3-3 within the AFCN games.
All in on Adonis!! I foresee a trade down in the 2018 draft future, we will add two first rounders in 2018 and again in 2019...it will become a tradition of Cleveland Browns football.
