https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...nsion-reportedly-will-be-closer-to-six-games/ Zeke could sit out as much as 6 games !!
Ouch. Might be just the optimist in me, but without any proof/conviction of domestic violence/abuse, I don't think he'll get 6 games. Thought initially it'd be 1-2 games; now I'm thinking 3-4.
Well, I guess it depends on what the suspension is labeled under. In this case, it seems it would fall under the domestic violence guidelines, which were revamped after the Ray Rice debacle...1st offense = 6 games, 2nd offense = lifetime ban Now, if they can twist the facts to suspend him under the detriment to the league policy instead of domestic violence, then yeah, it could be less. But then, why have the domestic violence policy to begin with?
No disagreement that there should be a strong domestic violence policy in place. But a problem springs up if you have a woman who's simply trying to make some coin (not saying that's what's happening here). An official police investigation turns up NOTHING, but a player can still be punished because the NFL thinks "well, she SAID something happened."
Isn't that what happened to Ben a couple of seasons ago? No police charges but still got a 6 game suspension which was reduced to 4. Maybe they will reduce Elliot's to 4 too.
We're on the same page Axe, not sure how he can be punished at all in this case, but I don't have access to all the info either... Ray Rice was exonerated of all charges after completing a program, had his girlfriend lie to the league office about the entire incident and we all know how that turned out.
Ben's wasn't a domestic violence case - it was personal conduct, wasn't it? If they're going to give Zeke 6 games for "personal conduct," then I definitely see Dallas appealing it to get reduced.
I think that was before the new policy was in place, wasn't it?? The new guidelines are cut and dry, 6 games, then lifetime..
I know - we're just hypothesizing at this point. Girl had bruises, but Zeke said they came in a fight she had with another chick at a bar.
UPDATE - Zeke gets 6 games. http://nypost.com/2017/08/11/ezekiel-elliott-hit-with-six-game-nfl-suspension/
Just saw that. He isn't going to lead the league in rushing this season. Cowboys are going to have a rough start this season. Who's your backup?
