I kinda think that Spike Lee can try to purchase a team and hire whomever he wants.
The thought that 120,000 can keep a hundred million rabid NFL fans held hostage is asinine.
CK7 made his bed with his work in preparation and play on the field. The side-show bob stuff
that CK7 did was in the wrong venue. That said, I really respect his cause.

Full time officials are a step forward.

Martavis Bryant has reached the next stage in his bid to return to NFL game action.

The Steelers wide receiver has been informed by the NFL that he is now permitted to participate in all preseason activities, including practices and games, general manager Kevin Colbert said Wednesday in a statement released by the team.

"He will continue to be evaluated as to his readiness to participate in regular-season activities under the terms of his conditional reinstatement," the statement continued.

NFL still wants to expand regular season

Before the NFL realized that it was impossible to reconcile player health and safety with an expanded regular season, Commissioner Roger Goodell routinely criticized the quality of preseason play. The purpose was obvious; the league wanted to reduce the preseason from four games to two, and to increase the regular season from 16 games to 18.

Once it became clear that the players weren’t interested in an expanded regular season, the criticism of the preseason subsided. Goodell’s recent comments regarding the preseason serve as a clear reminder that the league still wants to swap fewer preseason games for more regular-season games.

And that’s clearly what the league still wants, even if it no longer will say so.

“Any change in the [overall game] structure, we said that we would collectively bargain,” Goodell said.

But here’s the reality. To reduce the preseason, the NFL doesn’t need to bargain with the union. The 2011 CBA gives the league the right to do that unilaterally. The league won’t voluntarily reduce revenue without a way to replace it, which is how collective bargaining comes into play.

After the CBA was finalized, the thinking was that the league eventually would inform the union that the preseason would be chopped in half, hopeful that this would prompt the players to volunteer add two regular-season games. When it thereafter became clear that the union would call the NFL’s bluff, unilateral reduction of the preseason never happened.

However it plays out, the league knows that it can’t ask for the regular season to expand. If it’s going to happen, it needs to come from the players. If the players ever would be willing to do it, they could parlay it into significant financial gains.

Still, there’s no reason to believe they ever will — especially as more is learned about the realities of CTE.

So look for the preseason to remain at four games, and for the Commissioner to periodically huff and puff in the hopes that the players eventually will agree to blow the preseason down to two games, and to pump the regular season up to 18.

I'm all for it as a fan... 18 game season is just fine by me. Just get rid of a couple preseason games and make them early games count. I still have no idea what CTE has to do with the subject either. They (the players) still would be playing the same amount of football games. Maybe an 18 game season can clear up some of the muk going on that allows losing teams in the playoffs... just a thought.

Well, they get paid for 20 games, but the reality is, their combined playing time in preseason (4 games) is equal to about 1 regular season game for starting caliber players, which are the only ones really effected by adding 2 regular season games. So, even if the starters never played a down in 2 meaningless pre season games, the extra 2 games would add 1 full game of wear and tear on the body that they are not currently being paid for...

NFL's ruling on Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott expected soon

The NFL's ruling on its investigation into Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott could come as early as Friday, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. No decision will be announced Thursday, Rapoport added.

For more than a year the league has been probing into multiple incidents involving Elliott, including a domestic violence accusation made against him by a woman identifying herself as his former girlfriend to authorities.

Elliott, 22, has denied the domestic violence accusations.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has been waiting for a panel of independent advisers to complete their review of the case before making a decision on potential discipline, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on July 31. The four independent advisers, which Goodell is allowed to consult under the terms of the NFL's personal conduct policy, were present when Elliott met with league officials in New York earlier this month, per Pelissero.

The NFL launched its investigation after a woman claiming to be Elliott's ex-girlfriend accused him of assault in a report filed with Columbus, Ohio, police in July 2016. NFL investigators interviewed Elliott in October as part of their probe. Elliott and the NFLPA turned over phone records and documents related to the case to the league in May.

The woman told police Elliott abused her on five separate occasions from July 17-22, 2016, according to the Columbus (Ohio) City Attorney's Office. He was never arrested and prosecutors declined to charge Elliott, citing conflicting and inconsistent information.

Elliott is entering his second NFL season with the Cowboys after rushing for 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to earning first-team All-Pro honors as a rookie.

Looks like the Patriots are mortal.

Scores of preseason games don't really matter much. Just the scouting of your backups & rookies.

Yeah I know, I wish I could stomach watching more preseason games but I will stick to the Steelers only. Tomorrow I will be really interested because Dobbs is starting at QB and I am praying he is good enough to displace Landry Jones. I also want to get my first look at Watt in a Steelers uniform.

Don't count on Dobbs this season, if Landry is healthy he's the #2. Hopefully it doesn't matter who the backup is cause he won't see the field after pre season lol
