to me it's from what 1975? so the phillies are now in safety mode and cancelled the event, and the bobbleheads and giving back refunds for fans who bought tix just to see Pete at the stadium etc. Does this really change anything about him? Maybe I'm an ignorant fool, but it was 40 yrs ago! he admitted to it and brought it up. The woman involved is not pressing charges. Comcast SportsNet Philly last night was acting like Rose just committed triple homicide. they're acting like this happened last night. to me it's really old news.

and someone said within the phillies organization that rose will NEVER be allowed on their Wall of Fame because of this. Not now, not ever again! Wow.

I don't disagree...my larger point was it would've stayed in 1975 if he hadn't gotten sand in his vag over Dowd's comments on the radio. By suing Dowd he made everyone pay attention to what would've otherwise been a throwaway comment nobody would've cared about and his event would've gone on as originally planned. Once again, Pete has brought himself crashing down under the weight of his own sheer stupidity.

Paul Goldschmidt went deep three times, knocking in six runs, including a solo shot in the ninth that broke an 8-8 tie after the Dbacks had blown a five-run lead. Goldschmidt is the ninth player to have a three-homer game this season, joining Yoenis Cespedes, Matt Kemp, Anthony Rendon, Scooter Gennett (four), Eddie Rosario, Corey Seager, Nolan Arenado, and Andrew McCutchen.

Colon recorded his first win in a Twins' uniform on Friday, becoming the oldest pitcher to toss a complete game in franchise history.

Mariners acquired 1B Yonder Alonso from the Athletics in exchange for OF Boog Powell.
The M's claimed Alonso on revocable waivers and the two sides were able to work out a trade. Alonso has had a breakout season from a power perspective with 22 home runs, although just six of those longballs have come over his lat 54 games. Still, Alonso should be an upgrade for Seattle at first base against right-handed pitching. Danny Valencia now figures to be on the short side of a platoon.

Seems like a pretty light return for Alonso

^^ very sad on Dutch. Not the greatest Phillie ever, but wow what a leader. And one of the few who stood up too Curt Schilling when he pulled a lot of shit on the 93 team! Also sad he ran into money troubles and had to sell off his World Series memorabilia too. A sad day for Phillies fans!

Damn, Don Baylor goes down, too. Not a good start to the week for post-season heroes.

The Dodgers just finished the best 50-game stretch in 105 years

On Saturday the Dodgers came from behind to beat the Mets 7-4. That was their 43rd win in their previous 50 games and that set a record for the best 50-game stretch in 105 years

The last team to win 43 of 50 was the 1912 New York Giants.

79-32 is just insane for early August. They may shatter the most wins ever in a season unless they take their foot of the gas in Sept !

They'd better be smart and leave Adrian Gonzalez on the DL for the rest of the year.

Well jeez I mean he was asked the question in the course of an interview for an article about his 5000th game as an ump...it's not like he's just going around spouting off about a player complaining to him. That said, he probably should've known better and deferred on answering that one until after he retires lol. That said, 3 games is a bit ridiculous when if Beltre had criticized West's strike zone, he would've only gotten a fine.

true but west has been so bad and had many grudges against players in the past, lets just say this is calling it even. haha. im kidding.

all kidding aside - i think joe torre is in charge of this stuff and he's a joke. sorry but 3 games is insane for this. torre is just another puppet for the commish. west should've been spoken too and that's it. 3 games is a slap in the face to west.

Indians acquire Jay Bruce from the Mets

The Indians have acquired outfielder Jay Bruce from the Mets, Ken Rosenthal reports. The Mets received minor league pitcher Ryder Ryan in return, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Bruce cleared revocable waivers last Friday, which means the Mets could pursue a trade with any team as they would before August 1.

Bruce, 30, has had a productive year for the Mets, batting .258/.324/.524 with 29 home runs and 75 RBI in 445 plate appearances. He has battled a minor neck injury recently, but has otherwise stayed healthy all year, so there are no concerns on that front for the Indians.

The Indians’ outfield has been a bit depleted as Lonnie Chisenhall and Michael Brantley are both injured currently.

Would the Mets not have given Bruce a QO? Otherwise this is another deal of an impending FA I don't get.

Bruce is owed the remainder of his $13 million salary for 2017 and can become a free agent after the season. The Indians will cover the remaining salary.
