That's just it, Irish. I truly don't believe tbey have identified their week 1 starter yet.

Could this simply be a statement to the younger players of "HEY, I don't like what I'm seeing so far this off-season from either of you so get your shit together or I'll start this tall worthless prick over both of ya!!!"

That could be Lym...but months ago, Hue said he wanted to know the starter before the first preseason game. They have worked diligently to find out what they have in each of the 4 QBs. I believe he has a pretty good idea already of who that starter will be. If he doesn't, then we are in for an extremely long year once again...and I hope Haslem has the patience to see this rebuild through to the end.

My hope was that one of the receivers, or two if I'm being honest, develops in their second year. If we don't have a QB worthy of throwing decent passes, their growth may never be realized. I am very worried about the stunted growth of the offense, due to not being able to identify a QB that can at the very least operate the offense the way Hue wants it to be operated. I can handle mistakes along the way...but he should at least know by now which one has the better understanding of this offense to help the young players learn and grow...THAT player should be taking the entire first half of every preseason game to get this team on the same page. end of season be damned, I could care less if they get too tired because they played extra series on pre season...by then, backups should also have a better understanding and be able to perform...Any QB that can't play 20 games in a season should be sent to a better off season workout guru immediately anyway...because that is what it takes to win a Super Bowl as a Wild Card participant.

Not learning the essential working of the offense as soon as possible simply makes no sense...in fact, I don't care if you show your entire playbook to the rest of the league in the preseason...learning it is more important than exposing it.

Since it's a QB, 90% of the Cleveland media is losing their collective sh*t and we're debating ourselves in circles.

No one's raised an eyebrow that Randall M'F'ing Telfer is our starting tight end? You know, this guy:

    2016 QB Accuracy:

    Osweiler: 59.0
    Kizer: 58.7
    Kessler: 65.6

Pretty clear which QB throws decent passes.

Let's re-iterate @Lyman's point that maybe we're trying to read too much into this?

Kessler took too many sacks in the scrimmage. Kizer looks, predictably, like a rookie. Brock soldiered through second- and third-team reps and looked solid. Based on that performance, he won first crack at starting a live game, albeit preseason. Depending on performance here, we'll find out how things progress after this game.

Brock Osweiler, with Pro Bowl talent surrounding him, is a very below-average quarterback. He looks good in mini camp because it's mini camp. Thursday night, he'll likely struggle even against vanilla coverages. Kessler, second-up, will probably look something like he did in 2016 - an efficient and accurate passer. Lacking the overall weapons to put points on the board, he probably will convert field goals. Kizer, up third, against the second- and third-team players should look pretty decent, I would expect. I don't think the stage will be too big for him.

We'll re-evaluate and after splitting reps in another way, Hue will probably name a different starter for the second preseason game.

I would expect the third game to be the one which tips who'll be our Week 1 regular season starter and I would put the odds at 70/30 Kessler, followed by Kizer.

Months ago I said I wanted to be under 200 pounds. Shit happens (or doesn't happen) and I'm still tipping the scale at a svelt 225 pounds.

    Take a second and add up what we do know about what to expect from the 2017 Browns' offense;
    • They spent litterally millions to beef up the O-line.
    • They traded back up into the 1st round of the draft for a tight end.
    • They franchise tagged their #1 RB and STILL drafted another one.
    • They took no steps to aquire a dependable (read: available) deep threat wide receiver.
Add it up and I think you will agree that it probably doesn't matter who of the four QB's lines up under center. This going to be a ground and pound / dink and dunk offense that doesn't require a laser armed QB that can knock a hummingbird out of the sky mid-flight at 50 yards.

{edit} And we STILL don't have our "Franchise QB" on the roster.

Taking a brief respite from the QB clusterf*ck...

They don't give the total snaps as a rusher, but Ogbah had 849 total as a rookie, Ngakoue with 706 and Bosa at 563 (11 games). Keep in mind, Ogbah only played 8 games as a down lineman where'd he be primarily rushing the QB - as an OLB, he'd have different responsibilities and fewer rush attempts.

MFW Osweiler starts preseason game 1 and the Browns rush 90% of his snaps.

It's a tough RB market, but Freeman just reset the top at $8.25M a year. Keep that in mind if Crowell has the season we all hope he does.

Hopefully, we get this turned around from 1-15 to 9-7 and the Browns get Hard Knocks next season. This was a good one.

I might have to get a Jameis jersey.

    PS: Don't tell @showstopper

  15. ^^such a leader and great personality...btw his battering ram earned the highest paid RB in NFL...talk bout talent....wow

    Happy Fake Gameday everyone!!!

    Football is BACK!!

As for preseason and rookies...Christian McCaffery and Desaun Watson both looked pretty good in their debuts last night......... however............

Derek Anderson also looked good. Just another reason why preseason is useless in evaluating anything.

  17. I'm starting to wonder some about Peppers. What's taking him so long to get moved up the food chain?

  18. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I think he exactly where he is supposed to be in the food chain. He is listed at FS, but he will be playing very little FS. He will be a joker in the majority of schemes. So naming him a starter at one position doesn't matter at all. He is also spending a lot of time on special teams, which is where his impact might be felt the most.
