I think a lot of people remember Kaep opted out save for those who are crying that he doesn't have a job they seem to want to forget that he had a job. Sure maybe he does get released but then its not his fault he is out of a job. Right now its his and or his agents fault he doesn't have a job.

Steelers extend Mike Tomlin’s contract through 2020 season

The Steelers have extended Tomlin’s contract, which was set to end after the 2018 season, through the 2020 campaign.

“I truly appreciate this contract extension, and I want to thank Art Rooney II for his support as well as everyone within the organization,” Tomlin said in a statement released through the team. “My first 10 years in Pittsburgh have been an amazing experience for me and my family. I’m proud to call Pittsburgh home. My focus is on the upcoming season, and our goals remain the same as they always are — to bring a seventh Super Bowl championship back to our city.”

Tomlin is 103-57 through 10 seasons as the Steelers coach and he led the team to one of the six Super Bowl titles they’ve won during their history.

I had an argument with someone on twitter. He thinks the Dolphins are stupid if they play Moore. Why? I think they are stupid if they don't. He played well last year when needed, knows the system and it's late. YA they could get Cutler because he knows the system to an extent but Kaep is no good there. He could be signed as insurance to take over if Moore sucks down the road but no way he should start right away.

I advocated Moore to be the bridge pick-up for the Browns a couple years back. He's competent enough to get the Dolphins through this season and if they can find a rhythm on offense they can go over .500 and push for a wildcard spot. The defense should be strong enough, the ground game is there, the receivers are good enough and when Moore plays to his strengths he protects the ball and can move the chains in workmanlike fashion (think Alex Smith).

Bringing in Cutler does nothing to impove their chances.

Bringing in Kaep probably kills their chances. It will be a disruption no matter what and the way his tenure ended in SF the reality is he is probably no upgrade over Moore.

Yeah, I went there - Moore > Kaepernick

I agree. Kaepernick never even played to his early strengths. 49ers were a joke. Kaep probably should have a job skill wise but this isn't one of them as a starter, even ignoring the distraction side. Moore is one of the better backups out there. The Dolphins should quit their searching if they are. In today's NFL it isn't just hard to find a starter, it's hard to find a backup that needs to play if something goes wrong. Well it went wrong and the Dolphins have the QB already. Why go through all this? Try to get a decent 3rd stringer and move on to winning with Moore.

Moore must feel like shit hearing all the reports coming in how the Dolphins should ink Kaep, sign Cutler and the latest, trade for Teddy Bridgewater... that one was on NBC's PFT.

People probably think of Moore' last game in the Wild Card against Pittsburgh where he was beaten 30-12, when if you look at his numbers with Miami, overall there not bad.

He's already a winner and a proven winner who knows the offense... this is a no-brainer for Miami.

I've been a fan of Moore since he played for the Panthers. Very reliable and a good QB. Someone compared him to Alex Smith, and it's a fair comparison. Not a superstar but he can manage a game and limit turnovers. Don't trade for Bridgewater, save the draft picks...of all the players I've heard the only one that makes sense to me is Cutler. At least he knows the system. But I'm with Tim here, roll with Moore and lean on that running game.

    Corey Davis News...

Titans running back DeMarco Murray is day-to-day with a hamstring injury. Titans receiver Corey Davis isn’t so lucky with his.

Via Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ website, coach Mike Mularkey on Friday characterized the status of the 2017 first-round selection as “week-to-week.”

Davis tried to project optimism, but he eventually accepted the fact that he could be out a while.

“Obviously I was bummed, because I can’t practice the next few days,” Davis said. “I am a competitor, and I want to be out there and practice and play. But we are just taking it slow at this point. . . . I got real emotional about it [when it first happened]. I am a competitor and I want to be out there and do what I can to help out this great team. But I guess that is just not in God’s plans. I am just going to take it slow and take it week by week.”

Davis, who had been working with the first-string offense, expressed optimism that he’ll be ready for Week One, which brings an out-of-the-gates test against the Raiders.

Linval Joseph, Vikings strike $50 million extension

The Minnesota Vikings continue to lock down their defensive stars.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that the Vikings agreed to terms with defensive tackle Linval Joseph on a four-year, $50 million extension. Joseph gets $31.5 million guaranteed.

Joseph was under contract though 2018 before the extension.

The 28-year-old is the latest Vikings defender to get paid, after the team gave Everson Griffen and Xavier Rhodes big-money extensions last month.

Joseph signed a five-year $31.5 million contract with Minnesota in 2014 after four years with the New York Giants.

At 6-foot-4, 329 pounds, the athletic Joseph is an immovable force in the middle of coach Mike Zimmer's defense. In 2016, Joseph compiled a career-high 77 tackles and four sacks. He's a pivotal spoke in the Minnesota interior as one of the best run-stuffing tackles in the NFL.

Earlier this week, Zimmer said Joseph is the "best [nose tackle] I've ever been around."

With Joseph's, Griffen's and Rhodes' deals done, general manager Rick Spielman will now turn his attention to inking linebacker Anthony Barr to an extension.

This offseason the Vikings have paid piles of cash to ensure Zimmer's stout defense won't deteriorate for years to come.

Tim just traded him in our one league on time.
In Dynasty I just had my roster decision made easy, for now.

P.S. When I say Dynasty with a capital I always mean our main pay league. So if someone is ever confused I mean that going forward.

No clear leader in Browns’ three-way quarterback race

Cody Kessler opened training camp as the Browns’ starting quarterback, but he hasn’t done much to keep the job.

Kessler has struggled in camp, opening the door for either veteran Brock Osweiler or rookie DeShone Kizer to take the starting job. But it’s unclear which one of those two is in the lead.

ESPN say indications are that Osweiler will start the first preseason game. But the Akron Beacon Journal reports that coach Hue Jackson hinted that Kizer will get promoted to the first string this week and start Thursday night’s preseason opener.

Jackson has said he’ll take his time determining a starter for the regular season. It may take the entire preseason for someone to emerge as the leader in this three-man race.

    BREAKING...

Miami and former Bears QB Jay Cutler are finalizing a one-year deal, sources tell ESPN. Two sides are expected to hammer it out shortly...

  14. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

Jay Cutler is heading to Miami.

Roughly three months after seemingly retiring from the NFL to embark on a career in broadcasting, Cutler has agreed to terms on a deal with a Miami Dolphins team in need of a quarterback after Ryan Tannehill's knee injury, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

Miami still hasn't put a timeline on when Tannehill might return from his knee injury or if he will undergo surgery.

The Dolphins' decision to sign Cutler reunites the former Bears quarterback with Gase, who was instrumental in helping the quarterback post his most efficient season in 2015 when he was Chicago's offensive coordinator.

In May, Cutler announced he was making a "permanent" move to broadcasting after he failed to find a new home after nearly two months on the free-agent market. The former Chicago Bears quarterback was slated to make his debut for Fox Sports alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis for the Titans-Bears preseason contest on Aug. 27.

Falcons CB Jalen Collins suspended 10 games by NFL

Another season, another rocky start for Falcons third-year cornerback Jalen Collins.

After serving a four-game suspension in 2016 for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, Collins was hit with a 10-game suspension to start 2017 for a repeat offense, the team announced Sunday.

Collins won't be allowed to practice with the team after the preseason ends and cannot return until Nov. 21.

"We are extremely disappointed that for the second straight season we are dealing with a suspension for Jalen," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement. "Such are the consequences when certain choices are made. Our decisions going forward will be based on what Dan and I feel is best for the team."

Had it not been for a phenomenal 12 games last season, this might have been the last straw for Collins, a second-round pick out of LSU. However, there were few defensive players more valuable to the Falcons down the stretch in 2016, especially after Desmond Trufant was injured.

Over 636 snaps last year, Collins logged two picks, 10 pass breakups and 28 solo tackles. He also had 10 tackles in a 34-28 overtime loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl LI.

I just hope Lane Johnson doesn't get a 3rd. I think that would be a season and needing approved reinstatement. He says it's his doctors and meds twice but whether you buy it or not no more slip ups. Know what you put in your body.

Brock Osweiler to start Browns' preseason opener

Brock Osweiler will get the first crack at Cleveland's wide open quarterback battle.

The Browns named the veteran QB1 heading into Thursday's preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints, the team announced on Monday.

Cody Kessler will come in next, followed by rookie DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan.

"A lot goes into our evaluation but it's always going to be about efficiently and effectively running the offense," Jackson said in a statement. "You want your starter to be able to do that despite any circumstance. Brock hasn't really gotten any first team reps and this will give him that chance. We look forward to seeing what he can do with this opportunity throughout the week and against the Saints."

Jackson made it seem like the next preseason game could feature another starter.

"We are going to see a lot more of all of them this preseason and everyone in that room still has the chance to earn more opportunities and the right to lead our team as the starter when the regular season begins on September 10th," he said.

This is a win for Osweiler considering that Kessler was considered the team's No. 1 heading into camp. Given the hellish year he just endured in Houston and the potential embarrassment of having his contract dumped in Cleveland, it seems like the former Broncos second-round pick is making the best of a less-than-ideal situation.

Anquan Boldin signs one-year deal with Buffalo Bills

After losing out on the Jeremy Maclin sweepstakes, the Bills have finally gotten on the board with a veteran wide receiver.

Anquan Boldin is signing a one-year deal to join Tyrod Taylor and Sammy Watkins in Buffalo, Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager reported Monday. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero adds the one-year deal is worth up to $4 million. Boldin, who will turn 37 in early October, now joins his fifth NFL team in 15 years. His latest stop comes in a place desperate for help on offense.

The Bills later confirmed the signing.

I don't know how much he has left in the tank. However, I've always been a big Boldin fan. I really like his style of play, nice pick up for the Bills.
I think the Tannehill injury gives them a legit shot at second in the AFCE. Possible wildcard? Let's not get ahead of ourselves though.
