That is weird even there. playoff vs non-playoff.

 

That's what it was the got us fouled the first off-season. FleaFlicker only ranks it out within that one division, not across the board. Once it goes to that it goes by regular season record and then points. No other tie-breakers calculate for the draft order.

This is one helluva trip down memory lane...

 

I looked back and the 2016 draft order seems to be in error. lol. Oh well.

Should we have them alternate who goes 1st each round? Does either volunteer to go 2nd in the 1st?

No, it was playoff v playoff, but Freaky Flies won the first round, meaning it dropped them below the other two playoff teams in the draft order to #9. Apparently FF doesn't take playoffs into account.

 

Yep, remember, I had to go in and manually adjust the draft order for off-season trading in the pay league. It's something you have to do or else FF runs it's own version of what the draft order should be based on record and points.

 

I think I should get it as restitution for all the gay bashing I was subjected to last year

 

Slippery slope, if they alternate, then all other teams that end up tied would also have to alternate to be fair.

 

I just posted the order here to trump all that. It solved it except now we are arguing if we should follow division tiebreakers for non-division teams. lol

 

I checked. The only other tie between teams was Tebowski vs Turftoes and Turftoes gets it on both tiebreakers. (worse division record AND conference record).

We would be fine.

 

I guess, I'm confused on the tie breakers..In a draft order scenario, aren't we looking for the worst team to make the first pick?

If you have two teams end the season at 4-9, how would you determine the team that scored 1,131 points was a worse team than the one that scored 856 points?

Tuftoes scored 1,108 points, Tebowski only scored 939...but it has been determined that Tebowski was a better team??

Just doesn't make sense..

 

In all honesty, I would be against this because I don't understand the line of thinking behind it.

And yes, the first season the draft order was wrong and it's one of the reasons we started taking the extra steps after that.

 

That makes sense. The issue is the rules say we follow tiebreakers. The in-division tiebreakers say division record then points. The non-division ones say conference record then points. Tim wants to follow the 1st since they are listed 1st. But I say the 2nd set is applicable for non-playoff teams.

I'll give it until 5. If no one volunteers the only fair way to do it is to randomize it and swap every round. We'll clear this hole up after the draft but for now I want to make it fair by our rules.

 

THat's the issue. I think the line of thinking of using division tiebreakers, including division record, is a line of thinking I don't understand. Between our 2 tiebreaker systems conference record wildcard tiebreakers make more sense when they aren't in the same division. If it was simply points then ya I'd understand, but it isn't, it's division vs conference records. Points just happened to be next.

 

I believe that is why Beach had the higher pick in year one of the dynasty league.

Honestly, you are the commish, I would say stick to your interpretation of the rules, since you already had the draft order listed prior to the draft. Then we can make suggestions for next season. I wouldn't swap rounds, I would state the decision and just follow it.

 

Tebow had a better conference record. Via our tiebreakers that was what it ruled. Now Tim thinks it goes by division record first in all situations. In that case Tebow still was better, so Turftoes goes ahead of him. Points never came into question yet.
