my brother in law is a old time Steelers fan. i just know from him that you don't cross the Steelers front office. you bitch, cause trouble, get mouthy etc and it's the door. how many wr did they let go? plaxico burress? who was the MLB who was really good and then got released and went to Miami and wasnt that good for them? joey porter? the steelers just don't take any crap from the players.
Those players weren't released for holding out. They were Free Agents, the Steelers just didn't want to meet their demands.
There is no way in hell Bell gets in any trouble or is in any jeopardy with the Steelers... in my opinion, this will pass and all will be well in Steelers nation.
They do cut or trade distractions though. Bell's holdout is pretty pointless, can't sign any deal besides the franchise tag, and if he's concerned about injury, the Steelers are pretty veteran friendly. He could just as easily get hurt training on his own and then be out some money.
Also traded Santonio when he became a distraction, back in the 90s they let Bam Morris, Eric Green, and Brenston Buckner walk due to various distractions. They cut Cedrick Wilson when he had domestic violence charges filed against him.
thank you steelersking - that's what i was referring too. and who was the steeler who was really good in the 90s and went to seattle and was a bust..?i think he demanded more money and they cut him and he was a bust in seattle.
I think you're referring to Chad Brown. He didn't exactly bust, he was pretty good for them. Willie Williams went the same year and did ok. They didn't cut either but Seattle paid both more than the Steelers offered.
^^was chad brown coming off a all-pro year ?i think he had a good year, wanted more money and the steelers still let him go.
dawg-i saw a report kizer is doing well so far and far exceeding expectations. im still shocked he went that late in the draft. now as a ND fan, i do wish he would've stayed 1 more year, but i think he was better than where he was drafted at.
The Tennessee Titans plan to keep Jurrell Casey around for a very long time. The team on Friday signed the Pro Bowl defensive tackle to a four-year, $60.4 million extension with $40 million in guarantees, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Casey's previous pact was set to expire after next season. Coming off another Pro Bowl campaign, Casey has served as Tennessee's most reliable defender over the past half-decade, piling up 33 sacks since being drafted in 2011.
NFL suspends Cowboys DE Damontre Moore two games More drama in Dallas. Cowboys defensive end Damontre Moore has been suspended two games for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the league announced Friday. Moore was arrested in December on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Employed by the Seahawks at the time, Moore was signed as a free agent by the Cowboys in March.
Don't think All-pro, but it might have been a Pro Bowl year though. I know he took over for Greg Lloyd when he went down with a knee injury. He signed a pretty big deal at the time with the Seahawks if I remember right.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is still doing his best to ease concerns about his surgically repaired shoulder -- the one which has yet to throw a pass. "I would say that there's no reason to freak out," Luck told reporters Saturday. "I will be better than I was coming into this coming out. I know that. I don't know what day it's going to be, I don't know what week, I don't know when it's going to be but I definitely will be. So there's no reason to freak out. And on that note, football is the greatest team game in the world. No one person is bigger than the team and I've always felt that. We've got a solid, solid team that is forming at this complex. So, no reason to freak out." Convincing the general public that everything is OK has probably been one of the less enjoyable parts of Luck's rehab process. The Colts have kept his progress (or lack thereof) a closely guarded secret since January surgery and have not placed a firm timetable on a resolution. Owner Jim Irsay saying a Week 1 return was on the table served as the only benchmark out there for months. (NFL.com)
Report: Fans rising up against possible Kaepernick signing in Baltimore If recent comments by Ravens coach John Harbaugh regarding the potential signing of quarterback Colin Kaepernick were meant to be a trial balloon, it apparently is made of lead. Mike Silver of NFL Media reports that the Ravens “have heard from numerous fans regarding Kaepernick in the last couple of days, many staunchly opposed to his signing.” It’s hardly a surprise, given that Giants co-owner John Mara already has provided all anti-Kaepernick fans with the blueprint for shouting down a potential Kaepernick signing. “All my years being in the league, I never received more emotional mail from people than I did about that issue,” Mara said in May. “If any of your players ever do that, we are never coming to another Giants game. It wasn’t one or two letters. It was a lot. It’s an emotional, emotional issue for a lot of people, moreso than any other issue I’ve run into.” It’s impossible to know whether the fans from whom the Ravens have heard are only Ravens fans, or whether they are fans of other teams who simply want to see Kaepernick remain unemployed. Regardless, it’s no surprise that those who don’t want to see Kaepernick on an NFL team are trying to block it from happening at a time when it appears that it could. (PFT) ____________ ________________________ Interesting. Baltimore needs a QB, but it looks like the fans don't want that one. I wonder why...
Baltimore needs a camp arm. They don't need a QB. They only carry two on their 53 man roster and they just gave Mallett a $1M signing bonus which makes him a virtual lock. I imagine Kaepernick's politics have turned off some teams from considering him but I can't imagine Baltimore is one of them. Whether or not they sign Kaep will come down to football and finances.
Ezekiel Elliott recently met with NFL regarding probe Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says Ezekiel Elliott met with NFL officials within the last month regarding the league's year-long investigation into multiple incidents involving the Dallas running back. "They have had their hearing and they have had all of the responses. Everything's in place to make a decision," Jones said after Saturday's training camp practice, per the team's official website. "I think anything is discretionary. At any time you can ask for more meetings, whether it's the league or whether it's Zeke." NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on July 21 the investigatory part of the process is nearing completion and the league has shared its findings with the NFL Players Association, Elliott and his representatives. It remains unclear whether Elliott will be suspended or otherwise disciplined. The report the NFL sent to the NFLPA made no recommendation on potential discipline, according to two people who have seen it.
