I wasnt calling u out....but everybody knows he dropped a ton of weight and I wuld say 195-200 lbs at most
Braxton Miller officially weighed in at 204 pounds and 6' 1.5". http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...l-ohio-state-commands-tuesdays-north-practice Coming into the offseason he was a questionmark with a mid-round grade. I would not be at all surprised to see him continue to rocket up draft boards. If A.J. Jenkins can get drafted in the first round, Braxton Miller can be a high first round pick. Ultimately, I think he ends up with a second round grade. Browns have #32... just sayin'.
Good football move but even more important I think it's a symbolic move to see a home grown product sign a 2nd contract with the team. Even if they overpay a little it sets a tone for the rest of the team that they are on the right path. When you bring in the #1 coaching prospect it pays dividends beyond the football field. It lends credibility to the organization. Not sure how much they paid Hue but he's worth every penny.
Now, lets grab Marvin Jones in FA. Gordon/Jones/Benjamin would be a formidable group of starters. With a new coach will Bowe be gone? then there is 3 more undersized WR in Moore/Hawkins/Gabriel. All of them faced injury issues last year. You can barely call Moore a wideout, he excels on kick coverage, but he's not a returner. Its always been my preference to have non-returner special teams only players on D because at least on offense you can change a game plan and use TE/RB/WR more. You run out of DBs and you're in a world of hurt in todays NFL (in the Browns case, if you still have all of them you're in a world of hurt).
I would like to see Marvin Jones in here.. As for Bowe, I think the new coach will have to decide whether or not he can utilize him. We may find the reason he wasn't last year is because the coach didn't want him and Farmer said, too bad this is what I am giving you. That may have been part of the internal issues leading to both of their departures. Right now, he costs us $8M if he stays and he costs us $4.6M if he goes...so if we can get $3.4M useage out of him, then I say he stays. That should equate to about 1 catch when comparing to last years production...Seriously though, if he can get us 600 yards and 4-6 TDs, that would be worth keeping him. We simply don't know why he wasn't playing last year and that will go a long way in determining if he is here in 2016. _____________________________ Again, I am not as down on any of these defensive players simply because I believe much of their issues started with Jim O'Neil...I cannot believe he was hired to coordinate another professional team...That is ludicrous in my mind.
Personally, I'd rather invest in a rookie WR and let them develop in Hue's system than let a guy very much on the last leg of his career finish out (especially with an engorged price tag). That said, Pettine's stubbornness was certainly on display when it came to Bowe. Jackson's staff may take a page out of the Bruce Arians playbook where they take a former No. 1 WR and stick them in the slot. Pettine was adamant that Bowe played the "Z" spot and wouldn't start him because they had Travis Benjamin in that same role (or will have Gordon there if/when he returns). Larry Fitzgerald has a few down years before Arians moved him this season and he saw a huge resurgence. Same situation with Whines Hard in Pittsburgh.
I think there is room for both... Josh Gordon, Travis Benjamin, Marvin Jones as the base of the offense, with Bowe spelling Gordon and Hawkins spelling Benjamin. I don't believe that the rest of the roster brings much to the table to be honest. I would like to see a rookie come in and take a 6th spot for development, then relieve Bowe in 2017. But, I'm not sure they will give the WR position 6 roster spots...They better, because regardless of what happens to Bowe, Gordon may be a one and done with the Browns, whether it is suspensions or free agency..They better have someone in the wings ready to take over either way.
Thinking about this wide receiver lineup, I still believe we'll need to add talent in the first three rounds of the Draft. Josh Gordon still remains a massive questionmark and even if he contributes and you draft a talented young wide receiver... is that really an issue? Too many playmakers? I think (hope) Benjamin comes back and should lock up that deep threat for the Browns. Without knowing who we'll pick up in free agency, we're left with: Dwayne Bowe (awful), Taylor Gabriel (injury-prone), Andrew Hawkins (injury-prone), Brian Hartline (stinky), and Terrelle Pryor (developmental). If Hawkins can stay healthy, he should lock up that slot position. I know I keep beating his drum, but I really like Braxton Miller. I think we might actually be a good option for him because we could work him in slowly to the wide receiver role behind Josh Gordon but utilize his immense skill set in other facets of the game (h-back, kick return).
Ha, I was wondering if you were going to come back around to this... I jumped over to that site you were getting info on from the QBs and read some things about Braxton as well...I think he has a chance to be very successful in the NFL. I would love for him to land in Cleveland!!
Travis Benjamin: 4.36 Will Fuller: 4.33 Will Fuller IS the same type of receiver as Benjamin, except more polished...and HE is faster, not the other way around.. Benjamin wants #1 receiver money...these free agents made it to free agency unfortunately. Someone is going to be sacrificed. I want Mack, Gipson and Schwartz back...I think Fuller could step into Benjamin's shoes on day one and we wouldn't miss him at all...I can't find names to say the same about any of the other 3 with the #32 pick in the draft.
Would you take Fuller at #32 to replace Benjamin, or roll the dice on Braxton Miller at #32, knowing it will take some time, but who could be a potential No .1 WR?
I think Fuller is a sure thing, honestly. He will end up being that guy that gets you 900 yards and 5-10 TDs every year like clockwork...If we are taking a project QB already, I want a guy that can step in and start. We have our project receiver in Terrelle Pryor.
I just don't see him as a No. 1 wide receiver (which you'd like to get at #32 overall). He, like Benjamin, is too small to consistently go over the middle. Also, the drops history concerns me.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/03/09/report-chargers-team-to-beat-for-travis-benjamin/ Wide receiver is quickly becoming a major need in both free agency and the draft.
To go along with Benjamin to the Chargers.. I just heard on ESPN Marvin Jones is indeed signing with the Detroit Lions.
Both definitely pass the eye-test for size and speed. I will try to watch some film as I haven't heard either name until now.
We may need two out of the draft! If we could somehow trade down to #4 with Dallas and get their 2nd rounder, like has been mentioned... Will Fuller Braxton Miller/Josh Doctson Would help immensely... Hoping to hear that Josh Gordon is re-instated soon..
