Derek Carr
Derek Carr
Team:Oakland Raiders
College:Fresno State
Rank Redraft Dynasty PPR
Overall 51 71
Position 10 10

Fantasy Outlook:

Derek Carr cooled off last year down the stretch but still managed to put together a solid 2015. Of course, having to former high first round picks at wide receiver makes life a great deal easier for a young passer in the NFL and with that in mind it’s easy to see Derek put up a ton of points.

The only reason Derek is not higher in the rankings is the real possibility of a very streaky season. Carr and the Raiders offense will deal with a schedule that will see some potentially huge weeks for Derek mixed in with some extremely down weeks.

I’d consider taking Carr higher than his #10 positional ranking. In fact, I’d be willing to sit and watch as other owners overvalue a player like Russell Wilson or Blake Bortles so that I could select Derek with a better price tag and feel comfortable with it on draft day.

Original Scouting Report:

Derek Carr has started to receive some first round consideration but I am extremely hesitant to give him anything higher than a mid-second round grade.

Carr has sound athleticism for the position and a quality arm, but I have serious questions about his decision making ability. Too often Derek will wind up and fire the ball into traffic, off of his back foot when dealing with pressure coming into his face. His willingness to simply put air under the ball when stressed is the first ingredient in a recipe for turnovers in the NFL.

Derek Carr has some solid football traits that can possibly be developed but I would be hesitant to draft him into a situation where he was the immediate starter, especially on a roster with limited talent.
