Re: ESPN Fired 100 on-air anchors/staff...

they can't. yahoo.com sports did a rundown of all the rights espn paid for to air certain sports. holy crap the money they paid, no one else would pay and can afford. their nba rights alone are so insane, other networks are laughing at them for being suckered like that.

they fired staff bc ratings are down and they paid too much for airing rights. bad business move they are stuck with so these overpaid tv people had to go.

to me, whoever runs espn should be canned like tuna. any MBA candidate worth a damn knows to not spread yourself thin. ESPN was like Pac-Man and gobbling up all the sports to air in primetime etc. Well the well went dry and you overextended yourself. The firings are a direct result of that. Nice move!

Re: ESPN Fired 100 on-air anchors/staff...

The only thing I watch on ESPN is MNF. I am sure the NFL can find a broadcasting station to take that over for the same deal. Now the other sports programming will definitely take a hit in pricing.

Re: ESPN Fired 100 on-air anchors/staff...

they can't as they are under contract for a certain amount of years in advance. after it expires, then they can find a new network to air games.

i don't see this happening. they may cut coverage or sell off lesser tv rights deals, but they will still be around. too much at stake to walk away from the sports world tv rights table. they go belly up and they will never get a seat at the table again. they know that and probably won't let it happen.
