2-20 (52 overall): Nathan Peterman, QB Pittsburgh

Peterman has the size (6'2" and 226 pounds, 9.875" hands), field vision, and long-ball accuracy (46.2 percent - NFL average is 37) that compliments the Browns' scheme.  He hung 308 yards and 5 touchdowns on the eventual college football champions in Death Valley.  College accuracy isn't top-end (60.1% career), but does show the ability to anticipate throws and better talent around him could improve that number.

Also dug this one out.  Last season, Peterman's accuracy percentage under pressure: 66.1%.  That beats Watson (64.3), Kizer (59.5), Webb (56.9), and Mahomes (56.1).  Only one of the "big four" (Trubisky) had a better one, at 66.7.

Re: Out of the abyss, 2017 off season needs, wants, essentials

If the Browns were to move up to #5 overall for Trubisky, I'd imagine it will cost at least #12 and #33...According to the ol draft value chart, that's pretty close compensation for what #5 overall is worth, but it wouldn't be shocking if it required a high future pick as well...

Just for fun. Here's a new Browns mock...Factoring in a Trubisky trade up...Some of it is based on rumors, and some based on my thoughts...

1.1 Myles Garrett DE TEX A&M
1.5 Mitchell Trubisky QB N. Car  (trade 1.12 & 2.1)
2- #52- Bucky Hodges TE Va Tech
3-#65- Joe Mixon RB Oklahoma - (possibly Samuel, but he's likely gone)
4-#108- Jaleel Johnson DT Illinois   -  Maybe Sidney Jones if he's still there..
5-#145- Demontae Kazee CB SD ST
5-#175- Rayshawn Jenkins SS Miami
5-#181- David Sharpe OT/G Florida
6-#185- Tarik Cohen RB/slot/KR  N.C. A&T
6-#188- Andray Avgi TE Western Oregon

Counting on Corey Coleman to step up, and yes, possibly Josh Gordon...Thought about WR in the fifth round, but I liked value too much on other selections.   Lyman made a good point about our projected O-line.  It looks much improved, but the health track-records aren't the greatest.  Couldn't pass on Sharpe that late....Cleveland has reported interest in each player selected in first 4 rounds, as well as Avgi taken with last pick...

Obviously, if you don't like Trubisky, you aren't liking it.

The thing about the above draft, if they hit big on those first two picks, none of the rest of it will even matter. It'll go down as one of the greatest Browns drafts of all time...

Re: Out of the abyss, 2017 off season needs, wants, essentials

I have been participating in the L4SN General Managers Office exercise this year since January. We've had full of season operations, like trading, free agency and we just started the 3rd round of the draft, this is what we look like so far with me at the helm against 31 other "GMs"...We are ahead of the NFL in everything, so we don't necessarily know what is going to happen in real life. I did mirror the Osweiler trade after the fact, so that my draft lined up properly..I also have cut him and the only offer to him so far is for $1,000,000, so that would only cut what we owe down to $15,000,000, unless someone else comes in and makes a higher bid within the next 48 hours.

2017 Off Season Additions:
Free Agency:
Re-Sign Terrelle Pryor WR $11,000,000 (I overpaid)
Sign J.C Tretter C $3,000,000 (I underpaid)
Sign Michael Thomas FS $2,000,000 (Dolphins gave him a tender in real life, $1.8M)
Sign T.J. Lang RG $9,900,000 I stayed in bidding for Zeitler until it reached $13M, he ended up going for $16M, which was outrageous. Here I only overpaid by $400k for Lang.
Re-Sign Britton Colquitt P $2,500,000 (Browns re-sign $2.8M per)
Sign T.J. McDonald SS $3,000,000 (currently unsigned)
Re-Sign Charley Hewlitt LS $900,000 (Browns paid $1.06M)
Sign Alex Smith QB $11,000,000 (Chiefs dropped Smith, and I think I got a relative bargain for a stop gap QB)
Trade for Brock Osweiler QB $16,000,000,(Osweiler, Texans 6th round pick and 2018 2nd Round pick~For Browns 2017 4th round pick) Cut, awaiting him to re-sign to recoup offset language money. In this exercise, I could not trade him because it would have required a contract restructure which is not allowed.
RFA Isaiah Crowell Signed tender $2,800,000 (mirrored real life)
ERFA George Atkinson Signed tender $615,000 (signed with Raiders IRL, for same amount)
ERFA Jamie Meder Signed tender $615,0000 (Browns signed for same amount)
ERFA Dylan Wynn Signed tender $540,000 (currently unsigned)
ERFA Mario Alford Signed tender $465,000 (Browns signed for $615,000)

Current draft:
1.1.1. Myles Garrett, DE Texas A&M
1.12.12 Malik Hooker, FS Ohio State University (OJ Howard was still available and the only one I considered over Hooker)
2.1.33. Gareon Conley, CB Ohio State University
2.20.52. Deshone Kizer, QB Notre Dame (4th QB off the board, Trubisky went #6(Jets), Watson went #11(Saints) and Mahomes went #25(Texans).
3.1.65 Pat Elflein, C Ohio State University (best depth player available imho. He could be invaluable if Tretter's troubling injury history continues, but gives him an opportunity to get time before having to start)

Once the draft is over, we will be able to sign up to 90 players for UDFA, but then I will need to pare it down to 53 man roster, so I'm not sure I will be able to incorporate any UDFA...I'll update you when it's over.

Irish,

In your GMO exercise, with whom did the Chiefs replace Alex Smith?

Is there a forum or thread where us peons can follow this?

It is locked out to the public right now Lym, I think Tim is planning on opening it up after the draft.

But your question is a very good one...Alex Smith was cut, so the free agency bidding began on him, I never thought to look to see who replaced him. I have looked through free agency, trades and the draft and I cannot find a replacement for him. I have posed the same question in the GMO forums. I also can't find their team page...Tim started with them, and handed them off to a new GM, but he doesn't seem to be caught up on what he is supposed to be doing... I am afraid he might have confused the two drafts, the first collab that you were in, the Chiefs drafted Deshone Kizer in the 2nd round(ironically in the same spot I drafted him in our GMO draft, after you traded the pick to them). BUT, that was a different poster GMing that draft, so I really don't know what is going on.

There are a lot of new working parts on this so we closed it off and made it so that none of the general managers could start new threads in an effort to keep it semi-organized while we worked out some kinks.

I'm going to open it up after the draft for everyone to view and sign up.

Next year it will be open for everyone to follow and there will be a discussion thread for anyone that wants to put in their 2 cents.
