Who is nickmaned Mr. Universe? LOL

You never would've been in that position in the first place, if you didn't put yourself in that position.

haha guy's

really though this is totally legit, this player won the Allen Cup in 1925,1926,and 1929. In fact when he joined his first hockey team in 1914, he did not even know how to skate.

taking bets on when the FOURTH ban will start haha

Re: so you think you know hockey.................

Correct skinny!

There are few men who have done more for hockey in their native communities than has Gordon Allan "Phat" Wilson. A product of the Lakehead, Wilson joined the local church league hockey team at St. Andrew's in 1914 before he learned to skate. He spent his first year as a sub but came back the next year with much improved skating abilities and took his position on defence. Wilson spent the following two seasons playing in the local junior hockey circuit before joining the War Veterans Senior Hockey Club in 1918.

With two seasons of senior hockey under his belt, he tried his luck in the NOHA with Iroquois Falls in 1921-22. The team made it to the Allan Cup playdowns, eventually losing to the Toronto Granites. Wilson returned home and stayed with amateur hockey, eventually guiding Port Arthur to the Allan Cup in 1925, 1926, and 1929. His play did not go unnoticed by the pros and he was offered contracts with Edmonton, Calgary, and Toronto but turned them all down.

He was noted as an all-time great amateur player whose long rushes down ice contributed to his winning the senior scoring title as a defenceman. Although he retired from active play in 1933 at the age of 37, he stayed very active in the hockey and sports scene in Port Arthur.

Wilson was the co-founder of the local girls hockey league and took the time not only to organize but to coach and referee games as well. He was also involved in the local baseball scene--as president of the Port Arthur National League--and went on to become the first Little League District Commissioner for the area. Wilson even found the time to coach the Port Arthur senior hockey clubs to the Western Senior Finals in 1938 and 1940.

In recognition of his hockey prowess and lifelong commitment to the Port Arthur sports scene, Wilson was inducted posthumously into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame at its first induction ceremonies in 1982.

"Phat" Wilson was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1962.

Re: so you think you know hockey.................

if thats right let me throw one out there. 4 guys that are some of my faves too. only 4 players have ever had 50 goals and 200PIMs in one season - name em. I hope Mo Cheeks isnt reading this. its not really a hard question but I love all 4 and the liklihood we ever see that again with the pansy hockey being played now is extremely unlikely

I was a big Kurri fan when I was a kid, basically my team stunk so bad I had to find alternatives to cheer for.
