Cleveland Browns – 2014 Mid-Season Recap

Week 8 . . . Raiders @ Browns

For the second consecutive week, the Browns faced a previously winless team with a rookie starting quarterback. Both teams acted as if running the football was a capital offense as the Raiders managed only 71 rushing yards but the Browns gained only 39. Those yardage numbers are not for a quarter or a half . . . those are the totals for the entire game.

And, for the second straight week, the Browns faced a team that committed 3 turnovers – two fumbles lost and (another) Tashaun Gibson Interception.Tashaun Gibson - Raiders Game

For the entire first half, this game belonged to the kickers. Billy Cundiff hit on three field goals (52, 33 and 26 yards) and Sebastian Janikowski added two for the Raiders (46 and 38 yards). The 3rd quarter belonged to the wife’s “to-do” list and the 4th quarter could only be described as the type of game that prison inmates are forced to watch because they have no choice.

I am a transplanted Connecticut Yankee. My family moved to Northern Ohio in the very early 1950's and plopped me right smack dab in the middle of the Otto Graham, Dante Lavelli, Marion Motley era Cleveland Browns and I have been a fan ever since. I'm also an avid history buff so the combination of the NFL and history seems to be a perfect match for me. I hope that I will be successful in sharing some of my research on the history of the NFL and hope you learn something new while reading my articles.
